A corneous-elastic filament secreted by a gland located in the foot of some bivalve molluscs, used by the animal to anchor itself to solid substrates. It is emitted in a semi-fluid form and coagulates on contact with water, forming a bundle of resistant threads. It is present in genera such as Mytilus, Pecten, Tridacna, Pteria and Pinna, although in some species only in the juvenile stage. The byssus produced by Pinna nobilis (known as marine silk) can be collected, spun and woven into a soft, shiny, golden brown material.
Until the 18th century, it was used along the Mediterranean coasts (Sicily, Calabria, Puglia and Malta) to make gloves, ties and fine fabrics.
Filamento di natura corneo-elastica secreto da una ghiandola situata nel piede di alcuni molluschi bivalvi, utilizzato dall’animale per ancorarsi a substrati solidi. Viene emesso in forma semifluida e si coagula a contatto con l’acqua, formando un fascio di fili resistenti. È presente in generi come Mytilus, Pecten, Tridacna, Pteria e Pinna, sebbene in alcune specie solo nello stadio giovanile. Il bisso prodotto dalla Pinna nobilis (noto come seta marina) può essere raccolto, filato e tessuto in un materiale morbido, brillante e di colore bruno dorato.

Symbol that certifies a product 's compliance with European Union legislation regarding safety, public health, consumer protection, and environmental standards.
The acronym CE stands for Conformité Européenne, and the marking is legally required for products to be placed on the market within the European Economic Area (EEA).
Affixed by the manufacturer, the CE marking ensures that the product meets all applicable EU directives and regulations, as defined in Decision 93/465/EEC, and allows free movement within the EU market.
The CE marking should not be confused with the "China Export" logo, which looks similar but does not indicate compliance with EU standards.
Simbolo che attesta la conformità di un prodotto alle normative europee in materia di sicurezza, salute pubblica, tutela del consumatore e protezione ambientale.
L’acronimo CE sta per Conformité Européenne, e la marcatura è obbligatoria per legge per la commercializzazione dei prodotti all’interno dello Spazio Economico Europeo (SEE).
Apposta dal produttore, la marcatura CE indica che il prodotto rispetta tutte le direttive e i regolamenti europei applicabili, come stabilito dalla Decisione 93/465/CEE, e consente la libera circolazione del bene nei mercati dell’UE.
Non va confusa con la marcatura "China Export", graficamente simile ma priva di valore normativo europeo, utilizzata su prodotti extraeuropei.

This involves a change in business models that favour use and service over ownership of goods. The focus shifts from assessing the impact of the product life cycle to the efficient use of resources over time.
Si occupa di progettare oggetti o servizi che allunghino la vita dei prodotti in modo che siano mantenuti in uso il più a lungo possibile. L’obiettivo è creare un ciclo chiuso nel quale tutto può essere condiviso, rigenerato, riparato, riutilizzato e, in ne, riciclato. Implica un cambiamento nei modelli di business che privilegino l’utilizzo e il servizio al possesso dei beni. The circular economy contrasts with the traditional linear model "take-produce-consume-dispose", aiming to maintain the value of resources for as long as possible and to reintegrate materials into the production cycle at the end of their use.

Examples include the Circular Transition Indicator (CTI), developed by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), and the technical specification UNI/TS 11820, which provides a methodology for assessing circularity at the corporate level.
