The mapping includes entities involved in research, technological development, regulation, and the dissemination of innovative practices in the field of packaging. 

The collection of organisations develops progressively in relation to the content included in the Observatory, to which these actors are connected. In this way, the section offers a partial yet meaningful mapping of the ecosystem of stakeholders contributing to the evolution of the packaging sector.

Cauli
Cauli is a UK-based company founded in 2019 by Jo and Ming, active in reusable packaging systems for foodservice, takeaway and collective catering contexts. The organisation provides a complete reuse system for food containers, coffee cups, takeaway boxes and pizza boxes, based on reusable packaging, digital identification, smart tracking, borrowing/returning and performance data. Within the packaging system, it primarily operates in prevention and end-of-life management, as it aims to replace single-use packaging with an operational reuse infrastructure. It is also a distribution and logistics actor, since the value of the solution depends on return flows, collection, washing, redistribution, traceability and flow management between users, food businesses and return points. Within the packaging system, Cellutech should therefore be understood as a technology-transfer case now embedded in a global industrial actor. Its relevance concerns the development of bio-based materials for protective and cushioning packaging, now connected to solutions such as Papira®, Stora Enso’s lightweight cellulose foam presented as a bio-based and recyclable alternative for protective packaging materials.
