Barcode

Codice a barre

Encoding system of alphabetic and numeric elements, represented by dark bars, that facilitates the storage and billing of industrial products through optical scanning.
There are several specific bar code technologies:
  • EAN (European Article Number): used to identify commercial products with 8- and 13-digit versions.
  • UPC (Universal Product Code): similar to EAN, it is used in the United States.
  • Code 39: widely used in the non-food industry, supports numbers, capital letters and some special characters, but generates long codes.
  • Code 128: high density, allows all ASCII characters to be encoded and is used in transportation.
  • Interleave Two of Five (ITF) code: used to identify boxes in shipments.
  • Postnet code: specific to the U.S. Postal Service for addresses and postal codes.
  • PDF417 code: high-density two-dimensional (2D) bar code used in official documents to store data such as names and photos.
  • Datamatrix code: 2D code capable of storing up to 2,335 alphanumeric characters, highly reliable due to error correction.
  • DOTcode: designed for high-speed printing, consists of dots arranged in rows and columns.
  • GS1 Datamatrix: introduced for drug traceability, it ensures registration of the entire production and distribution chain.
  • UPC (Universal Product Code): simile all 'EAN, è utilizzato negli Stati Uniti.
  • Codice Interleave Two of Five (ITF): utilizzato per identificare le scatole nelle spedizioni.
