09. Enabling Track and Trace Systems

09. Abilitare sistemi di tracciabilità

Packaging allows continuous tracking and complete traceability of the product throughout its life cycle
Descrizione
Smart packaging can function as a dynamic identification system, allowing the product to be tracked in real time and its complete history to be reconstructed at all stages of the life cycle, from production and distribution to use and disposal. Tracking refers to the real-time monitoring of a product 's location and condition as it moves through the supply chain. Traceability is about the ability to retrieve historical data, including origin, transformation processes, batch information, management operations, and environmental conditions. An effective traceability system allows for quick responses to critical issues, such as recalls, fraud, or security incidents, while improving transparency and fostering trust between supply chain stakeholders and consumers.
Descrizione
Obiettivi
  • Collect and communicate product-specific identifiers and historical data
  • Enable continuous monitoring of product position and status
  • Ensure data integrity through secure and standardized technologies
  • Provide transparent access to relevant information to both internal stakeholders and end users
Obiettivi
Operational
1. Design a unique, secure and readable identification system
Define a coding system that guarantees the unique identification of each product, batch and origin. Ensure readability throughout the supply chain by both machines and human operators. Protect code from forgery, manipulation, and duplication. Adopt standardized formats compatible with the main logistics and commercial systems.

2. Map the product lifecycle and traceability pointsAnalyze critical stages of the product lifecycle, such as manufacturing, logistics, retail, usage, and end-of-life, to determine what data needs to be collected at each stage, when updates are needed, and where risks or control needs exist.

3. Integrate technologies for dynamic monitoring
Equip packaging with technologies capable of recording real-time location and environment data, transmitting updates to cloud platforms or company systems and triggering alarms in the event ofdeviations or anomalies.

4. Design data access for internal and external stakeholders
Define different levels of data access based on user roles: internal operators (logistics, quality control), external partners (retailers, carriers, regulatory authorities) and end users. For the latter, provide intuitive and transparent interfaces.
