Non-Bending Chipboard
Cartoncino grigio pressato
A thick, rigid solid board made from recycled fibres (newspapers, cartons) pressed into a dense, high-stiffness panel that does not easily fold or deform. It is also known as greyboard, grey board or rigid chipboard.
Its rigidity makes it ideal for sturdy and luxury packaging: it forms the “skeleton” of rigid (set-up) boxes (cases for cosmetics) jewellery and premium electronics, such as smartphone or perfume boxes.
As it cannot be printed directly, both faces are wrapped with printed paper or cloth laminated to the board, which provides the decorative finish.
It is also used as backing board for displays, in bookbinding (hard covers) and as protective board.
It is classified by thickness (caliper) rather than grammage: typical values from about 0.8 to over 3 mm.
Cartone teso rigido e spesso, realizzato con fibre riciclate (giornali, cartoni) pressate in un pannello denso ad alta rigidità, che non si piega né si deforma con facilità. È noto anche come greyboard, cartone grigio o cartone rigido.
Per la sua rigidità è ideale per imballaggi robusti e di lusso: costituisce lo “scheletro” di astucci e scatole rigide (cofanetti per cosmetici, gioielleria, elettronica di fascia alta, come le scatole di smartphone o profumi).
Non essendo stampabile direttamente, viene rivestito su entrambe le facce con carta o tela stampata e accoppiata, che ne fornisce la finitura estetica.
Trova impiego anche come pannello di supporto per espositori, nella legatoria (copertine rigide) e come elemento protettivo.
È classificato per spessore (caliper) più che per grammatura: valori tipici da circa 0,8 a oltre 3 mm.
