Warp
Set of threads arranged longitudinally on the loom during the weaving process, which form the supporting structure of the fabric. Also called chain or stamen, the warp is prepared according to a precise warping note, which establishes its number, length, tension and color. During weaving, it is interwoven with the weft (transverse threads) to form the final structure of the fabric.
Insieme dei fili disposti longitudinalmente sul telaio durante il processo di tessitura, che costituiscono la struttura portante del tessuto.
Detto anche catena o stame, l’ordito viene preparato secondo una precisa nota di orditura, che ne stabilisce numero, lunghezza, tensione e colore. Durante la tessitura, viene intrecciato con la trama (fili trasversali) per formare la struttura finale del tessuto.
