Woolcool
Woolcool Ltd is a British company based in Stone, Staffordshire, founded in 2008-2009 by Angela Morris, the only company in the world to produce commercial-scale thermal insulated packaging made from 100% pure sheep's wool, for shipping temperature-sensitive food and pharmaceutical products.
The wool used, a coarse grade typically undesired by the textile industry and thus at risk of low commercial value for farmers, is washed, carded, needle-felted and cut into strips, then sealed in recyclable polyethylene film with micro-perforations to preserve its hygroscopic function.
The first company in its sector in the UK to achieve B Corp certification, Woolcool has won two Queen's Awards for Enterprise (Innovation in 2018 and Sustainable Development) and is certified to ISO 9001 and 14001.
Customers can return the insulation liners for reuse (up to 10 times), and at end of life the material is fully compostable.

La lana utilizzata, di qualità grezza, normalmente poco richiesta dall'industria tessile e quindi a rischio di scarso valore commerciale per gli allevatori, viene lavata, cardata, agugliata (needle-felted) e tagliata in strisce, poi sigillata in film di polietilene riciclabile con microperforazioni per preservarne la funzione igroscopica.
Prima azienda del proprio settore nel Regno Unito a ottenere la certificazione B Corp, Woolcool ha vinto due Queen's Award for Enterprise (Innovazione nel 2018 e Sviluppo Sostenibile) ed è certificata ISO 9001 e 14001.
I clienti possono restituire i rivestimenti isolanti per il riutilizzo (fino a 10 volte), e a fine vita il materiale è completamente compostabile.
