Seventh Generation

Seventh Generation, Inc. is a US consumer goods company selling eco-friendly cleaning, home and personal care products, founded in 1988 in Burlington, Vermont, by Alan Newman and Jeffrey Hollender, with a name inspired by the Iroquois principle of considering the impact of one's decisions on the next seven generations.
A certified B Corporation, the company has made packaging sustainability a core part of its identity: it uses post-consumer recycled plastic (HDPE and PET), FSC-certified recycled paper packaging and plant-based ingredients.

In September 2016 Unilever acquired Seventh Generation for around $700 million, folding it into its portfolio of purpose-driven brands alongside Ben & Jerry's.
The company has set ambitious packaging targets: to make 100% of its packaging reusable, recyclable or compostable, with over 97% already recyclable.
