Pikkart

Pikkart is born in Modena in 2014 on the initiative of Lorenzo Canali, entrepreneur owner of Progetti di Impresa, historical Italian company developer of software solutions for Social, Health and Public Administration. Canali involves some Researchers from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and establishes Pikkart together with Partners Davide Baltieri and Giovanni Zuffolini with the aim of becoming a reference company in the field of Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence.

Two years after the foundation it becomes one of the few companies in the world and the first in Italy to have created from zero its own package for the AR development (Pikkart-AR SDK) to which it has then added the Pikkart-AR Logo technology, a software that allows to associate up to a billion of different contents to as many copies of the same image.
In few years Pikkart obtains important Italian and international recognitions (as for example the Seal of Excellence, obtained within the SME Instrument of Horizon 2020), and realizes solutions for different companies, sport societies, national and foreign institutions as: Ferretti Group, Generali, IBM, Marposs, Lega Basket Serie A, Pfizer, Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna, etc.

Today the research and development activity of Pikkart is oriented towards the fields of Augmented Intelligence, Deep Learning and Computer Vision, besides the design of innovative products that use AR.

Prominent among these is Pikkart-AR Discover, the latest evolution of Augmented Reality itself, to which the potential of visual recognition is combined. Simplifying, it's a software able to recognize, from a few photos taken on site, objects and places in context, and hook them with Augmented Reality content such as fact sheets, photos, videos and 3D models. A type of solution that has already been successfully applied in the museum, Industry 4.0 and retail sector.
