IoT (Internet of Things )
IoT (Internet of Things)
Acronym that identifies a network of objects equipped with identification technologies, connected to each other, and able to communicate both with each other and to nodal points in the system. These devices create a huge network in which every object can be tracked by name and location, enabling intelligent and interconnected management of data and resources in a variety of domains.
IoT is divided into several categories, depending on the application context:
- CloT (Consumer IoT): includes connected devices for everyday consumer use, such as smartwatches, voice assistants, smart home appliances, and home automation devices.
- Commercial IoT: refers to IoT applications in the commercial sector, such as monitoring systems for logistics, tracking devices for retail, smart building management and security solutions.
- IIoT (Industrial IoT): refers to the use of IoT technologies in industry for automation, predictive maintenance, remote machine monitoring and production optimization, improving efficiency and safety in industrial processes.
- Infrastructure IoT: applied to public and private infrastructure, it enables the monitoring and management of energy networks, transportation systems, smart cities and other critical services for urban and environmental efficiency.
- IoMT (Internet of Medical Things): specific to the healthcare sector, it includes connected medical devices for patient monitoring, remote therapy management and health data collection to improve diagnosis and treatment.
