Purpose
Legislative Decree No. 116 of 3 September 2020 implements EU Directives 2018/851 and 2018/852, updating Italian waste and packaging legislation. Its aim is to strengthen waste prevention, promote reuse, recycling, and material recovery, and enhance the sustainable management of packaging.
Scope of application
It applies to all public and private entities operating in Italy that produce, manage, or dispose of waste, including packaging. This encompasses businesses, public administrations, and operators in the waste and recycling sectors.
