RECUP
RECUP GmbH is a German company based in Munich, founded in September 2016 by Fabian Eckert and Florian Pachaly.
It operates Germany's leading reusable deposit system for the catering sector: RECUP for coffee-to-go cups and REBOWL for takeaway food containers. The products, made from recyclable, BPA-free plastic, can be reused hundreds of times (up to around 1,000 cycles for cups) and are borrowed against a deposit of €1 (RECUP) or €5 (REBOWL) at over 20,000 distribution and return points across Germany — including cafés, restaurants, bakeries, company canteens and petrol stations — before being returned, washed and put back into circulation.
The RECUP/REBOWL system has been awarded the German federal government's “Blue Angel” ecolabel and recognised as a best practice by Deutsche Umwelthilfe.
Since 2023 the system has also been active in Austria.
RECUP played a leading role in the introduction of Germany's mandatory reusable-packaging-offer requirement for the catering sector, which came into force on 1 January 2023.

I prodotti, realizzati in plastica riciclabile priva di BPA, possono essere riutilizzati centinaia di volte (fino a circa 1.000 cicli per i bicchieri) e vengono presi a noleggio contro una cauzione di 1€ (RECUP) o 5€ (REBOWL) presso oltre 20.000 punti di distribuzione e restituzione in tutta la Germania — tra cui caffetterie, ristoranti, panetterie, mense aziendali e stazioni di servizio — per poi essere restituiti, lavati e rimessi in circolo.
Il sistema RECUP/REBOWL ha ricevuto il marchio ecologico “Blauer Engel” del governo federale tedesco ed è stato riconosciuto come best practice dalla Deutsche Umwelthilfe.
Dal 2023 il sistema è attivo anche in Austria. RECUP ha inoltre svolto un ruolo di primo piano nell'introduzione dell'obbligo di offerta di packaging riutilizzabile nella ristorazione tedesca, entrato in vigore il 1° gennaio 2023.
