Duedilatte produces sustainable yarns and fabrics based on classic amino acids derived from milk casein and other natural raw materials.

It all started in 2013 when Antonella Bellina, textile researcher as well as CEO and Founder of the Duedilatte project, had the idea of creating a new textile fiber starting from milk. The basis of the idea was an old patent from the 1930s that synthesized a fiber from casein. By innovating that process with modern bioengineering techniques applied to textiles, it is now possible to obtain a fiber of protein origin starting from the amino acids of milk casein, which give the yarn and the resulting fabrics extraordinary properties. The milk market in Italy has about 30 million tons of waste every year. Milk is a raw material that is too precious to be wasted and that is why the Duedilatte project aims to exploit the surplus production of the agro-food chain, transforming it into a new resource in the sustainable textile sector. 

The fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world and that is why the technology Duedilatte would be inserted, through a process that combines the principles of circular economy and environmental sustainability, with production activities that have low environmental impact and enhance the resources of our territory without exploiting it.
