BIOPAP S.r.l. Società Benefit is an Italian company based in Settimo Milanese, specialised in the development and production of biodegradable, compostable and recyclable food containers. The BIOPAP® system is designed for preparing, cooking, preserving, freezing, reheating and consuming food, with declared resistance from freezer conditions to conventional and microwave ovens. Within the packaging system, it operates as a provider of materials, products and solutions for food packaging, meal delivery, takeaway, catering, collective foodservice and retail. The classification includes research and technology transfer because BIOPAP® is presented as a patented concept based on renewable, non-food, biodegradable and compostable raw materials, with the development of product lines, sealing systems and technical applications. It also includes prevention and end-of-life management because the offer is oriented toward replacing conventional food packaging with compostable and recyclable solutions. The case is relevant to design trade-offs between compostability, recyclability, thermal performance, food-contact suitability, single-use formats, availability of treatment infrastructures and coherence with the PPWR.

Il sistema BIOPAP® è concepito per preparare, cuocere, conservare, congelare, riscaldare e consumare alimenti, con resistenza dichiarata da freezer a forno tradizionale e microonde. Nel packaging system opera come fornitore di materiali, prodotti e soluzioni per food packaging, meal delivery, take away, catering, ristorazione collettiva e retail. La classificazione include ricerca e trasferimento tecnologico perché BIOPAP® è presentato come concetto brevettato, basato su materie prime rinnovabili, non food, biodegradabili e compostabili, con sviluppo di linee, sistemi di sigillatura e applicazioni tecniche. Include anche prevenzione e fine vita perché l’offerta è orientata alla sostituzione di packaging alimentare convenzionale con soluzioni compostabili e riciclabili.
